My Journey Through Veterinary Medicine

Animals have always been an important part of my life. I was fortune to have MANY pets throughout my childhood. Caring for them shaped my love of animals from a young age and inspired me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

I attended Quinnipiac University where I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Veterinary Technology. Prior to attending veterinary school I cared for aquatic animals as part of the veterinary team at Walt Disney World. Having grown up in Sutton, MA, I was quite smitten with sunny Florida and decided to stay for veterinary school. I graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013.

Following graduation, for two years, I participated in additional training in internship programs at large specialty and emergency hospitals in Phoenix, Arizona and Washington, D.C. I then returned home to Massachusetts where I worked for 5 years in emergency medicine and general practice caring for dogs and cats.

In 2019, I earned my Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute in Reddick, FL in 2019. I practice by implementing treatments for my patients that incorporate Western Medical techniques including medications, diagnostics such as blood work, training, and rehabilitation along with Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine including acupuncture and herbal therapy.

I pride myself in taking time with my patients and making sure they feel comfortable. I found that as I began performing more and more acupuncture that some pets weren't able to relax during their treatments due to the busy nature of many brick and mortar veterinary offices. This is what inspired Happy @ Home Mobile Veterinary Care. My patients are able to receive the care they need at home--avoiding car rides, lobby waits, and interactions with other dogs and people.

There's More to Life Than Work

When I'm not working I spend LOTS of time with my pets. I love to go on hikes with my silly, rescue dog Mumbly! When I'm not out and about you'll often catch me at home binge watching TV with my cats, Arnold and Oreo, in my lap. I know of pet loss personally as I lost my cat Prince in the August 2019, my dog Olive in November 2020, and my dog Ella in January 2021. They have all left a crater in my heart. I miss them all dearly and am so grateful to have Arnold and Mumbly to help heal our home.

I enjoy running and have participated in multiple half marathons. I love decorative baking (especially cake and rice krispie treat decorating)! John Mayer is my favorite artist. You'll often hear his albums on repeat in my car between house calls. I am a HUGE Disney fan and my family and I love going on vacation together at Disney World!  I have travelled to South Africa, Tanzania, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic and I hope to pursue more international travel in the future.
